Q: Am I allowed to burn within the Township?

A: Burning is very limited within the Township and is limited to only RR and Agricultural zoning districts. Burning is prohibited on Sundays, Mondays, and all legal holiday. Burning can only take place between the hours of 7am to dusk. Fires must be confined to a noncumbustable container and covered with a screen. NO RECYCLABLE ITEMS ARE ALLOWED TO BE BURNED. THIS INCLUDES YARD WASTE, TREES, AND SHRUBS. Acceptable items to burn are scrap paper (paper towels, tissues, napkins, paper plates, cups, etc.) and paper board (cereal boxes, soda boxes, pasta boxes, etc.) Open Burning is now prohibited in R1 and R2 zoning districts with the exception of grills and/or recreational fire pits where firewood and kindling ONLY can be burned.


Q: How do I get in touch with a board member?

A: Although they are elected or appointed officials of the Township, most board members also have full-time jobs elsewhere. Any request or concern to any board may be put in writing and submitted to the Township. It will then be forwarded to the stated board or member.


Q: How do I obtain a building permit?

A: Building permits for sheds, pools, fencing, etc. are handled by Lebanon County Planning located in Room 206 at the Lebanon County Courthouse. The phone number for Lebanon County Planning is (717)228-4444.


Q: How do I renew my key card for the North Lebanon Township Yard Waste Facility?

A: Every first of the year, all key cards to the NLT Yard Waste Facility will be deactivated. To renew your card, just stop in the Township Office to review your yard waste permit application and pay the renewal fee. The fee for 2023 is $50.


Q: What do I put in my recycling container?

A:  You are allowed to co-mingle your recyclables for curbside pickup. The items allowed are #1 thru #7 plastic bottles only, green, brown, or clear glass, aluminum, steel, or bi-metallic cans. Haulers will also accept corrugated cardboard and newsprint for recycling. Please contact your contracted hauler for their requirements.

Recycling containers are available free of charge at the Township Office.


Q: When is the Township Office open?

A: The Township Office is open Mon-Fri 7:30am-4:00pm except for holidays. (See “Holidays” listed under Departments-Administration). A drop box is located at the front door for any correspondence brought after hours.


Q: Where can I take my newspaper for recycling?

A: The Township has a newspaper drop-off outside the NLT Yardwaste Facility. Newspapers should be loose and placed in the roll-off container located by the yard wastegate.


Q: What should I do if I don’t receive my sewer bill?

A: Sewer bills are mailed on February, May, August, & November 10.  If you do not receive your bill in the mail within 5 days of those dates, contact the Township Office for your bill amount.  Penalties will not be forgiven for non-receipt of bills.
